Add a Gradient Background to a Photo Online
Gradients are the house style of app stores, product launches and creator thumbnails — they add depth without competing with the subject. bgclear removes your photo’s background, then applies a two-tone gradient preset; add a drop shadow and the subject sits in the scene instead of on it. Free, no signup.

Pick a gradient that contrasts with the subject’s edge
A white product on Mint or Slate is fine; on a pale preset it vanishes. Dark subjects want the pale presets, pale subjects want Forest or Midnight. Check where the hair or product edge meets the gradient’s lighter corner.
Diagonal light, matching shadow
The presets run light-to-dark at 135°, like a key light from the top-left. Turn the shadow on at low strength; it falls the way the gradient implies and the composite looks lit rather than pasted.
Brand colours: go via the transparent PNG
The eight presets cover the common looks. For your exact brand gradient, download the transparent PNG and drop it onto a gradient in Canva, Figma or any editor — the cutout is what does the work.
Gradients band in heavy compression
Smooth gradients show visible steps in aggressively compressed JPGs. Export PNG for hero images; if you need JPG, use the higher quality setting.
